Bo A.

Bo grew up on the southside of Columbus, and stayed in that area for most of his time in the City. As a child, Bo remembers having a fun and happy childhood. Bo loves jazz music, and has had the opportunity to see some of the best jazz musicians perform. “ The great thing about Columbus is that all of the up and coming jazz stars would stop in Columbus at the Lincoln Theater on their way to Detroit.” Some artists Bo remembers seeing are Jackie Wilson, James Brown, and The Temptations. Bo spent a lot of his time at the Lincoln Theater as “ there were not any other venues in the city that had good jazz” according to Bo.

When Bo got a little older, he moved to Toledo where he lived for 29 years. In Toledo, Bo had a job with Chrysler. “I had a good job in Toledo and I liked it because it paid well enough I could travel to Detroit to see some live jazz concerts.” In Toledo Bo picked up a new hobby, fishing! Being so close to Lake Erie, Bo was able to go fishing often.

Bo later moved back to Columbus and now resides in Harrison West. “I like my neighborhood because it is nice and quiet.” For the past few years, Bo was voted prom king at the senior prom held for all the residents in his building. When asked about it Bo chuckled and said “ I didn’t just win it once… I won four times!”

Bo was one of the first few members of At Home by High who joined in 2018. “One day I just ran into Katie and decided to join.” Since being a member Bo has gone with At Home By High to Cincinnati, The Columbus Zoo, and been attending regular meetups. Bo was so thankful for meeting Katie saying how she always tries to help in any way she can.
